by creatives, for creatives
casa nana - santa teresa, costa rica
I was invited to a Costa Rican boutique space to create a series of swings and sculptural pieces that respond to the environment - its scale, climate, movement, and rhythm. The process unfolded through creative freedom within a shared vision, allowing the work to develop intuitively, guided by the landscape and architecture. Each piece was designed to integrate seamlessly with the intentions and aesthetics of the space. Nestled in the jungle, the installations create intimate spaces that invite reflection, creativity, and connection with their surroundings.

Artistic DirectionWe start by understanding your space, intention and vision. Together, we define the concept, sculptural impact, and functional purpose. Sketches or small-scale models provide a preview of the design.
Structural FrameworkFor load-bearing and large-scale installations - safety is a priority. Certified engineers and fabricators build the supporting structure, ensuring it meets safety standards before rope work begins. The framework can be provided by the client, built on site, or designed as part of the project. We can also work on existing structures, adapting the rope design to the available framework.
Rope WeavingOnce the framework is in place, I hand-weave the rope around it, shaping texture, movement, and sculptural flow to bring the concept to life.
Material Selection• Marine-grade synthetic rope for load-bearing or outdoor installations. It resembles natural fibers but resist stretching, humidity, mold, and weather conditions.
• Natural or semi-natural fibers for interior, non-load-bearing art.
• The supporting structure material can vary depending on the project location, purpose, safety requirements, and desired durability.

My artistic practice has evolved through the exploration of rope across different contexts, scales, and ways of inhabiting space. It began close to the body - through adornment, fashion, and jewelry - and gradually expanded into interior and spatial work.Years of working with rope have built both confidence and curiosity, allowing my expressive range to expand rather than be constrained by the material. While I continue to explore its possibilities, rope remains a material I feel deeply at home with.Today, my work focuses on creating art - often functional - that responds to its environment while shaping the character and atmosphere of a space. My practice moves between maximalism and restraint, balancing density and openness to create a distinct spatial presence. With rope as both a familiar language and an open field of possibility, I continue to explore the boundaries of form, space, and expression.
